Sam Smith came to the 2014 VMAs to bring emotion to this stage with his performance. Kim Kardashian West came out to announce Smith’s performance, calling his voice honest and full of emotion. She then stated that he’s a friend of hers before the spotlight appeared on Smith who was accompanied by piano.
