Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner has one of the most down-to-earth marriages in Hollywood.
They are raising three children, managing successful carers, and still have time to support the Red Sox.
Let’s pay homage to the adorable couple and learn about their love story.
1. They Met on Set
The pair starred in two movies together, Pearl Harbor and Daredevil. Both flicks didn’t fare well in the box office, and Affleck once joked, “With our track record, I don’t know if anyone’s looking for a three-quel.”
The actor admitted that they fell in love on the Daredevil set, saying, “That’s where I found my wife. We met on Pearl Harbor, which people hate, but we fell in love on Daredevil.”
However, they didn’t started dating until seven months after Affleck ended his engagement to Jennifer Lopez, whom he was supposed to marry in September 2003.
The new “Jen and Ben” began dating in August of 2004 and were engaged by April of 2005.
Garner herself was married before, to actor Scott Foley. She told the Sun, “I wish I’d known to wait for marriage until I was 30 or over. I did marry in my twenties and I found divorce a crushing experience.”
She met her ex on the set of Felicity , married in October of 2000, separated in March of 2003 and finally divorced in March of 2004.
2. They Had Their First Children Fast

When they wed, their publicists told People, “They’re married and they’re expecting their first child.”
Garner admits that marrying and having babies came quickly for the couple.
She told In Style,
“When we had our first [child], we had only been together a year. We were babies. It happened so fast, I hardly remember what we were like before the kids got here. Now we’re just starting to go away for a night here and there.”
The Affleck family includes Violet, 8, Seraphina, 5, and Samuel, 2.
There’s been recent speculation that she is expecting her fourth child.
The couple is protective of their children and vehemently opposed to paparazzi taking pictures of them.
In an interview with Playboy, Affleck said, “But it’s wrong and disgusting to follow children around and take their picture and sell it for money. It makes the kids less safe. They used to take pictures of our children coming out of preschool, and so this stalker who had threatened to kill me, my wife and our kids showed up at the school and got arrested. I mean, there are real practical dangers to this.”
3. The Red Sox Are a Big Part of Their Marriage
Although Garner hails from Texas, she quickly had to become a Red Sox fan for her Cambridge-born hubby.
The couple actually made their first public appearance at the 2004 World Series, shown below.

On the set of her film Draft Day, she said, ““If they hadn’t won that year, I don’t think I’d be married with three kids. Because I think I would have been considered a jinx. Boston fans are pretty serious about superstition.”
In the interview with Jimmy Kimmel, shown above, Garner donned a fake beard, which was a “Red Sox thing.”
“You can’t not fall for the Red Sox. You want to hang out in that dugout,” she told Kimmel about her love for the team.
4. He Threw Her in a Pool For the Ice Bucket Challenge
During the campaign for ALS, Affleck nominated his wife for the challenge. After she poured the water over his head, he surprised her by throwing her into their pool.
She told Access Hollywood, “If you drop your phone, or if your husband tosses you in the pool on the ALS Challenge and you weren’t expecting it, and your phone was in your back pocket and it got killed… you have to go a day without your phone!”
5. Jen Loves the Batsuit
Now that her husband has been chosen for the role of the Caped Crusader, people are asking Garner what she thinks of his new physique and of course, the infamous batsuit.
In the interview above, with Extra TV, she reveals that he lost 30 pounds and is 8 percent body fat.
As far as the suit goes, she told ET, “I’ve seen the suit. The suit is unbelievably cool. It’s a total reinvention. It looks great.”
When she was asked if she would have him wear the outfit for her, she replied, “I don’t think I can get him out of the suit, so no.”
