2. Cowen Formed Her Own Charity
Each contestant has a platform, but not many of them have their own charity. According to the Orlando Sentinel:
One Chance, One Choice, Inc., which is a youth mentor program that aims to instill high moral values to teens. It’s a charity Cowen formed after growing up and having one teenage friend become pregnant and another become involved in drugs.
3. She’s a Sorority Girl
Cowen takes her sorority Kappa Delta very seriously and has a lot of love for all her sisters. Her sisters have reportedly been very supportive of her on her road to becoming Miss America and Cowen is sure to return the love. Currently, Cowen is a student at Florida State University. Cowen’s goal is to get a master’s degree in marketing and then pursue a career in medical device marketing and sales.
4. Cowen Is a Member of The Golden Girls
I’m not talking about Sofia, Rose, Blanche and Dorothy, but Cowen was a dance member of The Golden Girls group, not the TV show. This group performs during home football games at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee for FSU and Cowen showed off her dance moves on the field. Cowen’s talent in the competition is lyrical dance. Tallahassee.com writes:
Cowen’s known she wanted to have lyrical dancing as her talent ever since she was a little girl. She remembers watching Miss America with her mom and trying to decide what her talent would be. It didn’t take long for Cowen to realize her dancing talent.
5. Her Mother Is Her Inspiration
Like many, Victoria Cowen, aka Tori, considers her mother to be her true inspiration in life. On Cowen’s Twitter and Facebook page, she posted the above photo with this sweet caption:
This woman is my inspiration, motivation, and the reason why my passion for dance is so strong.. Knowing she was in the audience last night when I was performing was so special..
