5 Seconds of Summer are set to take the stage at the 2014 American Music Awards, but one of the band-mates almost didn’t make it. Last month, band-mate Ashton Irwin was thrust into emergency surgery and was reportedly only hours from death. The Mirror reported:
5 Seconds of Summer star Ashton Irwin has told how he was just hours away from death before he had his appendix removed. The 20-year-old hotty went to hospital after he began feeling unwell last month, and it was then revealed that he could have died if he had waited much longer before getting a doctor’s help.
Irwin admitted that if he had been on an airplane, his appendix would have ruptured and he was supposed to be on a plane that day. Due to Irwin’s illness, the band had to pull out of the Teen Choice Awards in London.
Fortunately, all of the boys are healthy, happy, and ready for the AMAs. 5 Seconds of Summer is up for the award of New Artist of the Year Presented By Kohl’s.
