Alfonso Ribeiro Wins ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Finale

Tonight was the finale of Dancing With the Stars season 19 and beloved contestant Alfonso Ribeiro won the coveted mirror ball trophy with pro partner Witney Carson. The couple who was announced as the third place winner was Janel Parrish with Val Chmerkovskiy. In turn, Sadie Robertson took second place with Mark Ballas.

While you may have thought the scores were all in at the beginning of the show, you were wrong. Each couple had 24 hours from last night’s show to create a fusion dance to perform tonight, with more scores being added to their individual counts. Mark Ballas and Sadie Robertson did a decent job, though there was a lot of shimmies that looked a bit odd on Sadie. Despite the hiccups, Sadie received all 10’s. Her total for both nights was 118. Though Janel had some hurt ribs, she powered through preparing for her fusion dance and partner Val Chmerkovskiy said what he was most excited for was getting to know Janel Parrish outside the ballroom. Their foxtrot, paso doble fusion dance was fierce, strong and fun, earning them a perfect score. Their total for both nights was 117, just below Sadie Robertson and Mark Ballas. The last fusion dance of the night was Alfonso Ribeiro. Alfonso and partner Witney Carson were simple but flawless in their routine as Alfonso’s BFF Joey Fatone went crazy for him in the crowd. Of course, Alfonso earned a perfect score giving him a total perfect score of 120. The judges loved watching Alfonso and judge Carrie Ann Inaba called him a glitter ball. Since he’s a glitter ball, wouldn’t it be fitting that he take home that shiny mirror ball trophy?

As far as the other performances of the night, as usual all the contestants from throughout the competition returned and performed one of their routines from the show. In addition, several big musical guests showed up to perform as well. Jennifer Hudson performed her song “Go All Night,” Meghan Trainor performed a short medley of two of her songs, and Nick Jonas performed his song “Jealous.”

One highlight from the night was a video of all the dress rehearsal bloopers where we got to see how truly goofy co-hosts Erin Andrews and Tom Bergeron are. Other highlights were judge Bruno Tonioli receiving a giant birthday cake tonight and Tommy Chong dancing to Snoop Dogg again. The biggest highlight, however, was when Alfonso Ribeiro announced that he has joined the Dancing With The Stars tour.
