Peter Pan Live!
Peter Pan Live! is a Broadway musical that will air live Thursday, December 4th, at 8:00 p.m. ET on NBC. It features some of your favorite actors and a female Peter Pan, much like the original. The network is hoping that this will be as successful as their production of The Sound of Music starring Carrie Underwood last year. Hopefully, the main characters won't face as much criticism as Underwood did for her acting abilities. NBC writes: Following in the footsteps of the phenomenally successful The Sound of Music LIVE! - which drew over 18 million viewers - comes this musical masterpiece that tells the beloved story of Peter Pan, the mischievous little boy who ran away to Neverland. Get ready for show-stopping stars, stunning costumes, extravagant sets and delightful music that will have everyone in your home singing along.
As far as the character Tinkerbell goes, the original version had a simple, flickering light as Tink. As a modern production, the executive producer Neil Meron has come up with a more sophisticated option. Meron tells Entertainment Weekly: Tink is going to be computer generated and manually guided around the screen by a technician. The actors won’t be able to see her, but that technician will be able to move Tink with the actors and change her size and color to indicate what she’s feeling. Everything else looked old fashioned. We wanted to see if we could do Tink with new technology. Some of the new songs you will hear in the musical include "Never Never Land", "Vengeance", "Only Pretend", "A Wonderful World Without Peter" and "True Blood Brothers." The song "Oh My Mysterious Lady" has been cut.
