Predicted by many to be Marvel Studio’s first flop at the box office, Guardians of the Galaxy was anything but, becoming the second highest grossing film worldwide this year and the third biggest Marvel movie ever. Who’d have thought a movie with a gun-toting, talking raccoon and a tree would become an Internet sensation and one of the most loved movies of 2014?

Guardians of the Galaxy features the Han Solo-esque space cowboy Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), daughter of Marvel’s most feared villain Thanos and galactic assassin Gamora (Zoe Saldana). The very literal tank of muscle Drax (Dave Bautista), the smart-mouthed trigger happy Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper) and last, but not least, the giant tree with only one phrase, who is quite possibly the heart of the movie, Groot (Vin Diesel), have made their debut on Digital HD, 3D Blu-Ray, Blu-Ray and DVD, right in time for Christmas.

The many extras include Director James Gunn’s “Guide To The Galaxy,” an audio commentary from the director, deleted and extended scenes and a look at the film’s impressive VFX and a gag reel. But if that’s not enough, there’s an exclusive look at Marvel’s Avengers: Age Of Ultron that is sure to get you pumped for Marvel Studios’ next film (the trailer had the most views in one week, before fellow Disney property Star Wars’ trailer overtook it).

Hopefully, the release of what is sure to become a classic from Marvel will be able to hold you off until Guardians of the Galaxy 2 comes out in 2017, when, hopefully, we learn the identify of Peter Quill’s father, get an appearance from a particular telepathic Russian dog, maybe dig a little deeper into the identity of that empty cocoon (hint, his name has Warlock in it) and, hopefully, James Gunn changes his stance on Nova and Richard Rider gets a chance to shine in this much anticipated sequel. The Internet is already abuzz with a possible appearance of the Guardians showing up in Avengers 3.

Finally, if that isn’t enough, word around the water cooler is, those little dancing baby Groot toys will be available “soon.” Also don’t forget to check out Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol.1 and enjoy all the awesome music from the movie featuring Marvel’s a-holes.
