It follows the real life murder of Hae Min Lee, a high school senior at Woodlawn High in Baltimore County, Maryland on January 13, 1999. Her body was found in a shallow grave in nearby Leakin Park a month later. She had been strangled to death. About a month after, her 17-year-old ex-boyfriend, Adnan Syed, was arrested, tried, and found guilty of her murder.
But discrepancies in the case and the testimony of one individual, Jay, make Syed’s guilt debatable
