Adam Lambert - American Idol
Adam Lambert fills in for judge Keith Urban on the New York auditions episode of American Idol and this is his debut as a guest judge on the show. During the auditions on Lambert's episode, fellow judges Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr. urge adam to "audition" for them. He decides to sing "Bohemian Rhapsody," which he sang when he first auditioned for the show as a contestant. Lambert was a contestant for Idol in the show's eighth season in 2009 and he finished as a runner-up. Shortly after, he broke out into stardom and gave a controversial performance at the American Music Awards that same year. Lambert kissed a male bassist and then grabbed another person's crotch on stage. The Parents Television Council, a conservative decency group, were not pleased and urged viewers to complain to the FCC. In turn, Lambert's performance on Good Morning America was canceled, but he was picked up by CBS' The Early Show. Lambert's response to the incident was this: Female performers have been doing this for years—pushing the envelope about sexuality—and the minute a man does it, everybody freaks out. We're in 2009—it's time to take risks, be a little more brave, time to open people's eyes and if it offends them, then maybe I'm not for them. My goal was not to piss people off, it was to promote freedom of expression and artistic freedom.
His Dating Life
Lambert was last romantically linked to ex-boyfriend Sauli Koskinen, who he started dating in November 2010, but split from in April 2013. Koskinen was a reality star, who won Finland's Big Brother, and is also an entertainment reporter. The relationship had been a bit rocky, especially when Lambert was arrested for assault after a heated argument with Koskinen outside a bar. Nonetheless, Lambert says the two remained friends after their break up, explaining: Sauli and I remain really good friends, and I know it’s a cliché thing to say. But it’s totally true. I’ve been getting really busy and traveling a lot and and he’s been getting really busy because he has a show he’s filming for Finnish television. So we just decided to part ways.
Lately, Lambert has been linked with the band Queen because they are touring with Lambert, performing their old songs. The Guardian writes: Guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor are now grizzled, grey-haired men, but still pack the showmanship and musicianship of real rock legends, even if this does mean indulgences such as drum battles (with Taylor’s son, Rufus) and guitar solos that presumably require enough electricity to power a small town. Surprisingly, though, this show succeeds because of Adam Lambert, not despite him. The 32-year-old has said he wants to celebrate the flamboyant, camp, gay Mercury rather than replace him, but he definitely has the Freddie factor. Whatever the case, with a net worth of $12 million, Lambert shouldn't have anything to worry about when it comes to his career. And, to check out Lambert's best music, click here.
