1. She Works As a Picker, Sample Maker, Stylist, and Delight Associate On the Show
Herrin takes on four different positions at her company and we’ve got a couple video clips to give you a glimpse at how it all went. The official press release on the episode reads:
Going undercover as “Nicole,” Herrin visited with four key functions within the Stella & Dot organization … Herrin traveled to three offices outside of her San Francisco Headquarters to roll up her sleeves and work in the front lines of the company; she visited the Groveport, Ohio Distribution Center to learn the order fulfilling process, she traveled to New York City’s Design Studio to learn what goes in to the intricate techniques of creating jewelry, and she spent time in the Delight Center in Scottsdale, Arizona to work with the team on fielding customer and sales force inquiries. She also traveled to the Midwest to learn more about the Independent “Stylist” opportunity and participate in a trunk show.
2. Jessica Herrin Is Also the Founder Of WeddingChannel.com
Herrin’s professional bio gives details on her vision for Stella & Dot as well as her other ventures and who she is as a person. It reads:
OUR CEO and FOUNDER Jessica Herrin, a mother of two and mentor to many, had a vision to create a new kind of company that would offer today’s busy woman a career alternative. As co-founder of WeddingChannel.com (yes, you saw her on Oprah!), Jessica wanted to use her savvy to help solve the modern woman’s dilemma: achieving success and balance through a career you love … Jessica’s vision called for an entirely new concept that could guarantee women flexibility, reward, style, profit and fun. With an irresistible product and exceedingly personal service, a proven formula for passionate earning and personal success was born.
The company itself is described as:
an Inc. 500 Fastest-Growing Company, is a San Francisco based social selling company that creates flexible entrepreneurial opportunities for women. Our boutique-style jewelry and accessories line is available exclusively through in-home Trunk Shows by Independent Stylists and online.
3. Stella & Dot Was Recently Featured on Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills
You may have seen Stella & Dot recently on the Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills. Star Lisa Rinna meets up Ali, the director of Stella & Dot and the two plan a party that Rinna is hosting to benefit breast cancer. She reveals that her mom and sister are both breast cancer survivors. Rinna invites all her fellow housewives and thensome. Denise Richards shows up to show her support and buy some jewelry as well. At first, Rinna was worried because most of the women attending buy very expensive jewelry and Stella & Dot is more affordable than diamonds and pearls.
4. One Of the Employees Recognizes Herrin
As always, there are four employees featured on the show and each one has a touching background story. Tyler is the “picker” and CBS writes:
This hard-working 22-year-old knows what it takes to get the job done. He tirelessly works overtime to proudly earn “Best Worker” in his department. Plus, he’s so nice that he even went out and purchased really comfortable footwear for everyone in his department last Christmas. Tyler isn’t from the best neighborhood and had to fend for himself at an early age after his parents divorced. No matter how long or how many loans it takes to complete his schooling, Tyler is determined to accomplish his dreams.
Next is Maria and her CBS bio states:
This sweet-natured jewelry crafter spends countess hours bringing Stella & Dot’s jewelry designs to life. She takes great pride in her work, with the hopes of one day becoming an actual designer. Maria is hoping that one day her hard work will pay off and she can fulfill the American dream. Her face lights up when she talks about her children and also as she shares her goals of moving up the corporate ladder and owning her own home.
Then there’s Grace, who recognizes Herrin and busts her on being under cover. Even though she recognizes her, they talk it over and decide to continue with Grace’s trunk show in disguise. Grace, who has a family tragedy, reveals:
At 32 years old, this smart, sassy businesswoman has no intention of slowing down with Stella & Dot. This senior director started her business from scratch when she discovered an untapped market waiting to be conquered in Des Moines, Iowa … Even though she lost her father to cancer at the young age of 16, she quickly learned to support herself and lives every day in the moment.
Finally, there’s Jade and CBS writes:
This delightful associate is an amazing people person who loves helping callers solve their problems. As a single mother of two, Jade is used to juggling a lot. She works extremely hard to make sure she sets a good example for her kids, and she strives to continually do better because settling is not an option.
5. Herrin Has a Few Problems When She Goes Under Cover
Like most of the bosses on this show, things do not go smoothly when they are under cover. When working with a jewelry crafter, she talks to much and has trouble focusing. Then, when she’s answering the phones, she continues to interrupt the caller. Have a look at a clip from Herrin’s adventures in the above video.
As for what Herrin thought of her experience on the show, Herrin says:
Being a part of this show was an extremely moving experience for me. I am so incredibly proud of our entire Home Office staff and our field of Stylists, who go above and beyond to support our company mission to give women the means to style their own lives through our flexible entrepreneurship opportunity. It was incredible to spend quality time with the individuals who help make sure that we are always delighting our customers with best-in-class service, and that we are continuing to measure success in the number of lives we are impacting around the world with Stella & Dot.
