Mark McGrath, who was the victim of a death hoax this morning, is married to his longtime love Carin Kingsland. The pair is happily raising a family together in L.A.
On her Twitter profile, she describes herself as, “Mom 2 twins, Married 2 Years, Blissful in a 20 year relationship, Loving daughter, True friend, 2 Honest and a little bit LOCA :)”
Here’s what you need to know about the aesthetician who stole the Sugar Ray singer’s heart.
1. She Married Mark in September of 2012

They met at The Viper Room in 1994 and were engaged in 2009. The venue of their first encounter, which is owned by Johnny Depp, is infamous for being the site where River Phoenix died.
At the time, the new husband told People magazine, “After 18 years of breakups, makeups, beautiful twins and an unwavering love that provided some pretty damn good song lyrics, we are happy to announce that we are finally married.”
2. She Has Twins With Him

After having a hard time conceiving, McGrath opened up to Parent Dish, saying, “I tried my hardest the conventional way, but that didn’t work out for us. We did the IVF thing. It was intense and expensive, but we did it in one shot and, boom, here they are,” he said. “My job now is to be the best parent I can be because that is all that matters.”
Through IVF, they welcomed twins Lydon and Hartley in 2010.
3. She Was on ‘Celebrity Wife Swap’
On the reality show, Coolio’s girlfriend Mimi swapped homes with Kingsland for one week.
ABC explained their situation as:
When self-sufficient Mimi arrives in Los Angeles, CA to swap lives with Carin, she is surprised to see a maid, a nanny and Carin’s parents — who live with them full time. Mimi is flabbergasted when she sees how the twins have complete control over the household. She also zeroes in on Mark’s “helicopter parenting” and thinks that his hovering over everyone’s interaction with the twins is a problem.
4. She’s from California

She is originally from Rancho Cucamonga, and then lived on the Westside of Los Angeles for 20 years. After she had the twins, she and McGrath decided to move to the family-friendly L.A. suburb of Studio City.
Kingsland loves raising her children in the area and told The Agency about its appeal. “To me, kid-friendly means that kids can ride their bikes down the sidewalk and feel safe, and most of all, there are other kids around their same age that they can grow up together with,” she said.
5. The First Thing Mark Said to Her Was, ‘I Think I Love You’
When they met in 1994, McGrath actually told her, “I think I love you.”
The frontman must have good intuition, because in 2009, when she became pregnant, he was just as in love with her. At the time, he gushed to the Daily News, “These two kids will be the luckiest kids in the world in terms of their mom, that’s for sure. They’ll get a lot of love.” Kingsland seems to return the sentiment, and posted the above photos on Twitter on Father’s Day.
The pair still makes time for date nights.

Without the kids, we like to go catch a movie at the ArcLight. They have adult theaters there so I can have a glass of wine and unwind! Mark and I tend to do more day dates. We love lunching together and shopping. We love the original Katsu-ya on the corner of Colfax and Ventura.
