‘The Walking Dead’ Season 5, Episode 10: Highlights & Spoilers

4. Daryl Finally Opened Up About the Death of Beth

Walking Dead Season 5

Maggie and Glenn could be seen continuing their walk with the group on the long, winding road. Maggie finally managed to speak on Beth, noting that she didn’t know if she was truly alive or not. She seemed distraught over seeing her sister in such a sad state. She didn’t know if she wanted to continue moving on, but Glenn told her to keep fighting to survive. Maggie got some water in her system.

Sasha spoke with Abraham as they walked. Abraham warned her that her actions could be bad for the group, to which Sasha noted that she was no friend of the booze drinking man. Glenn offered some water to Daryl, who declined. Daryl then decided to veer off on his own into the forest once again.

Daryl sat down by a tree upon discovering a barn in the distance. He lit up a cigarette and locked eyes with the seemingly abandoned house. Daryl’s inner pain seemed to take over him, as he burned himself with the still lit cigarette. He began to weep and finally release his inner frustrations over Beth’s death.

5. A Brutal Thunderstorm Forced the Survivors to Take Shelter in a Barn

Daryl made his way back to the group. Rick delivered a note to him that he found. A large stash of water was found in the middle of the road. No one knew if it was safe or not, which led to Eugene trying to test it out by drinking one. Before he could though, Abraham slapped the water bottle out of his hand. Just then, a thunderstorm passed over the group. A few of the survivors were happy to be bathed in natural water, while Maggie, Daryl and Gabriel still looked trapped in their thoughts.

While the group took the rainfall water into their bottles, the storm seemed to pick up steam and get more dangerous. Daryl led the group to the barn he saw before. Maggie located a zombie inside a room, which she put out of its misery immediately. Carol came upon Maggie afterwards. Their brief conversation covered the fact that the now turned lady zombie could have killed herself since she had a gun. Carol make sure to mention that they need to keep pushing.

Rick spoke to his crew around a campfire. Michonne and Rick disagreed over how to best handle living in this world, while Glenn spoke up during their conversation and Daryl sat by his lonesome. Rick then went into a story about asking his father about whether or not he killed any Germans during his time in the war. Rick continued talking about how his father pretended he was dead and got out of the situation by noting that he truly lived when the war was over. Rick told this story to convince the group that they would find something great in D.C. and get to live again. He noted that they were truly the walking dead. Daryl disagreed with this statement and convinced Rick that they were far from the walking dead. Rick then agreed.

6. A New Character Named Aaron Met Up With Maggie and Carol

The storm continued to rage outside the barn. Daryl made his way to the door and was shocked to see a huge gathering of zombies fight to make their way in. Maggie noticed and ran over to help him. Then Sasha saw the commotion and offered her aid as well. Soon, the whole group woke up to help fend off the walking dead outside their barn. After a long, drawn out struggle against the fighting horde, Maggie could be seen waking back up. She spotted Rick’s baby girl and cheered up a bit. Maggie walked over to Daryl, who was already awake and deep in his thoughts. Maggie told Daryl to rest and get some sleep just like everyone else. Daryl mentioned that Tyreese was tough and Beth was too, even though she didn’t know it before she passed. Daryl passed along the broken music box back to Maggie, who decided to pass it along to Sasha.

As both women went back outside, they spotted the remains of the zombies littered amongst the trees ravaged by the passing storm. Maggie and Sasha found a quiet spot in the woods right in front of a beautiful sunset rising before them. Sasha spoke about how Noah said he didn’t know if hew cut out to make it. Sasha noted that she felt the exact same way, to which Maggie responded by saying they they’d both make it. Maggie opened up the now functioning music box, but they suddenly caught off guard by a man named Aaron. Aaron wished to speak with Rick. Aaron noted that he had good news. The show went off the air as both women locked their weapons on Aaron while the music box began to play.
