A.D. The Bible Continues
History Channel's 2013 series The Bible now returns in a new series on NBC at 9:00 p.m. called A.D. The Bible Continues. The new series sticks to the true biblical accounts and all of its violent aspects. A.D. The Bible Continues tells the full story of the early Christian Church, picking up where The Bible left off. The first two episodes "depict the crucifixion, images of ritual animal sacrifice, and murders and executions that take place in the heated political landscape." The premiere episode is titled "The Tomb Is Open" and it's synopsis reads: High Priest Caiaphas and Governor Pilate crucify Jesus to restore order in Jerusalem. For Peter and the disciples it is their darkest hour. Episode 2 is titled "The Body Is Gone" and it's official plot reads: Jesus' tomb is empty. Pilate and Caiaphas believe the disciples stole the body and search in vain to find it. The disciples flee to Galilee where Jesus gives them their mission. Episode 3 is titled "The Spirit Arrives."
