Carole Radziwill on ‘Real Housewives of New York City’

Carole Radziwill

Carole Radziwill is one of the fun women starring on Real Housewives of New York City. She's a 51-year-old author, princess, survivor and widow. Carole grew up in Suffern, New York and got her MBA from NYU. Later on, she went on to become an award-winning journalist who, in 1991, was stationed in Israel to report on the SCUD missile attacks during the Gulf War. Then, in 2003, during the War on Afghanistan, Carole spent six weeks in Khandahar and also produced segments for an ABC-TV show called Profiles From the Frontline. She won three Emmy Awards, one of which was for a story she produced on land mines in Cambodia. Carole's late husband Prince Anthony Stanislaw Albert Radziwill was a TV executive and filmmaker, who died of cancer in August 1999. He was first diagnosed with testicular cancer in 1989 and the ordeal left him sterile. Carole Radziwill was by his side as his lover and caretaker for several years before the disease claimed his life. After his death, Carole wrote the autobiography "What Remains: A Memoir of Fate, Friendship and Love". Years later she wrote the novel "The Widow's Guide to Sex & Dating."

Around the time that Carole lost her husband, she also lost two dear friends of hers - John Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette. John F. Kennedy was Carole's late husband's cousin. Carole Radziwill opened up about the heartbreak to Oprah Winfrey, explaining that they died just three weeks prior to her husband losing his life. Their plane had crashed into the Atlantic Ocean and Carole had spoken to them just an hour before their deaths. We've heard Carole talk briefly about the ordeal on RHONY, explaining why she has such a fear of flying, especially in small planes.

Carole's net worth is estimated at $50 million and she used to have a column with Glamour magazine called "Lunch Date." Some of the men she went on these "lunch dates" with included Antonio Banderas and Alec Baldwin. One star she actually dated was George Clooney. When Clooney tied the knot with wife Amal Alamuddin, Carole told People: I think it's fantastic, and when anyone falls in love it's a good thing for everybody. She also said that when she dated Clooney, it was many years ago - during the Eisenhower administration.
