Tonight, Jason Derulo and Florida Georgia Line each performed on American Idol and we watched our favorite contestants perform as well. With the option of the “Fan Save,” many were on the edge of their seats waiting to see which contestants were going home. So, what were the results? Qaasim Middleton was sent home.
The theme of the night was Billboard Hits and Florida Georgia Line stopped in to give the top 8 some guidance this week, as did Derulo. The Top 8 contestants left included Jax, Nick Fradiani, Qaasim Middleton, Joey Cooke, Rayvon Owen, Tyanna Jones, Clark Beckham, and Quentin Alexander. While Jax gave us a twist on a Lady Gaga song tonight, Nick Fradiani brought out his inner Katy Perry with a performance of “Teenage Dream.” Quentin stunned the judges as Derulo urged him to bring out another side to his voice. Joey Cooke then performed “Wrecking Ball” by Miley Cyrus, which was met with mixed reviews and Clark Beckham performed a solemn Ed Sheeran song.
And, as if FGL and Jason Derulo weren’t enough tonight, Iggy Azalea and Jennifer Hudson took the stage as well to perform their latest single “Trouble.” After their performance, Tyanna was announced as moving on in the competition, singing a song called “Stay” by Rihanna and dedicating it to her grandmother. This left Qaasim and Rayvon in the bottom two tonight.
Now that you’ve got the details on who won tonight, have a look at a special performance from tonight’s show by judge Harry Connick Jr. … It’s definitely amusing.
