A brand new technology is working on bringing back Selena Quintanilla, who died 20 years ago, so she can go on tour in 2018. It sounds like something out of the Twilight Zone but apparently it can be done by a company who plans to digitize a human version of the late singer. Billboard reported that the creation of Selena’s hologram-like -but more advance- will be “walking, talking, singing and dancing”. The purpose of this is because the family intends to expand her legacy with some new music. Not only that, she will be going on tour and singing with other artists that never met her in person.

In an interview with Billboard, Suzette Quintanilla, the sister of the late Tex-Mex singer, talked about the plan to bring back Selena in a digitized form.

By no means is this something that’s creepy or weird…We think it’s something amazing. A lot of the new fans that did not get to experience what Selena was about hopefully will be able to get a sense of her with this new technology that’s going to be coming out”.

Acrovirt is the company behind the new technology called Digitized Human Essence.

Selena the One tour is planned to take of in 2018. The name is appropriate since she will be the first artist and Latina to be digitized and go on tour. For Suzette, this is not a way to replace her sister with a hologram, instead she wants to help her legacy to continue growing.

Also, the family will be celebrating Selena’s legacy with a two-day festival titled Fiesta de la Flor. The event will take place on April 16 and 17 at the North Bayfront Park, downtown Corpus Christi, Texas.

The annual event will serve as a tribute for the Queen of Tejano, as well as the cultural contributions of Tejano music worldwide.
