1. Paul Bettany Plays the Role of Vision

Actor Paul Bettany will step into the android makeup of the newest character to enter the Marvel Cinematic universe – Vision. Bettany hails from the U.K., who first became super popular after his appearance in the British film Gangster No. 1.

His mainstream Hollywood stock rose even more after his role in A Knight’s Tale. One of the biggest films he starred in was The Da Vinci Code. Avengers: Age of Ultron’s rendition of Vision comes to fruition as an android who’s created by Ultron.


2. Paul Bettany Once Voiced Tony Stark/Iron Man’s Companion A.I.

The creation of Vision in Avengers: Age of Ultron is tied to Tony Stark/Iron Man’s companion A.I., J.A.R.V.I.S. (Just A Rather Very Intelligent System). Ultron manages to force Helen Cho to develop a robotic body, but his plans are thwarted at first. Later on, Tony Stark and Bruce Banner seek to upload J.A.R.V.I.S. into that android body, but their plans don’t fully meet their initial desires.

The Vision is soon birthed with J.A.R.V.I.S.’s voice, but he becomes an entirely different being. He gains his intelligence after being granted the Mind Gem into his forehead. Paul Bettany’s vocal talents have been tied to J.A.R.V.I.S. in Iron Man 2, Iron Man 3 and Avengers: Age of Ultron.


3. The Vision First Landed in Comic Books in 1940

The Vision made his first appearance in Marvel Mystery Comics #13 in November 1940. At first, Vision was an alien who hailed from an alternate dimension within the Marvel Comics universe. Later on, Vision was added to The Avengers since editor Stan Lee was dead set on writing in an android member. His 1st name was Victor Shade, while his 2nd moniker fell under the alias of Jonas.

The 2nd version of the Vision introduced by Lee and writer Roy Thomas as the new and improved android version that existed up until Marvel’s current comic book run. Eventually, The Vision and Scarlet Witch became a couple. Vision’s team affiliations cover a wide gamut of Marvel’s superhero squads. He was a member of the following teams – The Avengers, West Coast Avengers, Avengers A.I., Defenders, Young Avengers and Mighty Avengers.


4. The Vision Has Access to Huge Variety of Super Powers

The Vision’s powers and abilities are far-reaching. He may be an android, but he contains all the elements of a human being. However, his bodily organs are nothing more than synthetic materials.

Vision has access to the power of flight, shapeshifting, superhuman intelligence/speed/agility/strength, regeneration, body phasing, solar energy projection and technopathy. In Avengers: Age of Ultron, Vision derives his powers from the Mind Gem implanted in him.

Actor Paul Bettany has been married to American actress Jennifer Connelly since 2013. They first came into contact with each other after meeting on the set of A Beautiful Mind. They both live in Brooklyn, New York with Jennifer’s son Kai. They both have children of their own, son Stellan and daughter Agnes.
