She tells the cameras that when Ayers is sick, he can be vomiting for days at a time. She also says that he has his good days and his bad, but she tries to keep him busy so he doesn’t get depressed about his illness. Unfortunately, Ayers has said that his chemo treatments may not be working, telling Radar Online:
When the test results came back, the numbers haven’t changed substantially. They haven’t gotten worse, but they haven’t gotten better. That was kind of disheartening, to be honest with you. I’m not so sure my body is responding to chemotherapy. At least the cocktail that I was doing. I’m not sure it responded like it needed to … It’s just assessing what my mentality, my body responds to and it’s been quite a daunting mental task.
Ayers has said that Gunvalson has really been there for him and her care has brought them closer together, explaining:
She keeps me up and going and it’s been good rather than just routine, monotonous life — that’s not what we’re about. So it’s been very good from that perspective.
As for what he hopes to show viewers with his cancer diagnosis, he states:
At the end of the day, we want to show that you don’t have to lay down and let this disease or the normal course of what we think cancer can do take you down. You can continue to have a life and you can continue to be strong mentally and the things that we can control, we can control. That’s what we’re doing.

Ayers told Radar Online that Beador has also been a big help with his cancer treatment, explaining that:
Shannon Beador’s been very much in our corner and putting us in contact with a lot of unbelievable world-renowned holistic physicians based here in Irvine (California). In 2013, Gunvalson and Ayers were sued by Gunvalson’s former business partner Robert Williamson III in a case involving her vodka company. Fortunately, the case was dismissed, according to Radar Online. Radar reported that it was claimed Gunvalson gifted 16.67 percent of the company to Ayers without Williamson’s knowledge. The claim also stated that Ayers had then sold his part to Williamson in an act of fraud. The money was said to be needed for unpaid IRS and child support obligations in order to avoid going to jail for non-payment. Radar reported:
An agreement was reached, while RW III [Williamson] was in Clark County, Nevada, for the purchase of Brooks’ interest for the sum of $50,000.00 which is memorialized in writing in an agreement dated March 6, 2013. It was learned later that Brooks and Vicki had used this purchase as a way to obtain additional money from RW III in bad faith without the intent to honor the intent of the transaction.
Williamson stated that when Gunvalson then “demanded” the company ownership be returned to a 50-50 split between them, that’s when he decided to file a lawsuit.
