Jason Aldean married former American Idol contestant Brittany Kerr earlier this year. Although they endured scrutiny early on in their relationship because Aldean was unfaithful to his wife when they first met, they seem to be enjoying newlywed bliss.

Here is what you should about their relationship, wedding and future plans.

They tied the knot on March 21 in Mexico. Before the nuptials, Aldean told People he was looking forward to starting a life with Kerr. “We’re living our life. We’re happy. We enjoy each other and we’re looking forward to getting married and moving on to the next stage of our lives together.”

The pair was cohabiting prior to the wedding, so they already felt like it was official. Aldean told E:

We were already living together and it kinda felt like we were married anyway…We were kind of living the married life anyways so for us it was kind of just going through the formalities of it all. It was nice to do that and kind of make it official.

2. He Cheated on His Wife With Her

They were first photographed together in 2012, while Aldean was still married to his high school sweetheart. Pictures leaked of him kissing Kerr at a bar in L.A. TMZ first exposed the photos, reporting the pair was “hugging, touching each other and at one point it appears Aldean goes in for a kiss.”

At the time, the Daily News reported that Kerr had to deactivate Twitter because of the comments she was receiving.

After the incident, Kerr publicly apologized. TMZ reported that she responded by saying:

“The actions I portrayed recently were not a representation of my true character, but a lapse in judgment on my part. I would like to sincerely apologize to everyone that has been affected by this, including my friends & family.”

The country crooner posted the quote above on Instagram with the caption:

So sick of people judging me and @brittanylkerr over things they know nothing about. I have made mistakes but i am a better person because of it, and wouldnt change a thing. Im happier than i have ever been, so thank u to all the people who support us. We are happy and life goes on. Its time to move on people. #aldeanarmy #oldnews #timetomoveon

He also released an apology on Facebook, and assured fans that he and his wife of almost 12 years and mother of his two kids, Jessica Ussery, would work things out.

Aldean still takes issue with the fact that people still criticize him for his infidelity. In September 2014’s issue of Billboard, Aldean went off, saying, “It has been two years of this s—, Get over it, already! And then when I finally do get enough of it and say something, every newspaper grabs it. And I’m not trying to get in the headlines — I’m just trying to get people to stop running their mouths.”
