1. Scott Baio Announced His Wife’s Brain Tumor News on His Facebook Page
Renee’s famous hubby Scott Baio posted the news of his wife’s brain tumor on his Facebook profile June 16, 2015. The message he wrote reads:
Just a few days ago we learned my wife, Renee has a meningioma brain tumor. Although 90% of these type of tumors are benign they can cause serious problems depending on the size of the tumor and the location. We are waiting to learn the exact location to see if its operable.
Renee has been down some rough roads in her life, yet each time with her strong faith in God, she comes through a better and stronger person. During this time we ask for your prayers and support. My wife is my rock. She refuses to even shed one tear, nor will she question God’s will. Renee, Bailey and I will get through this and along the way maybe help educate others to get checked out (MRI with contrast) as 6500 people each year, mostly women get these tumors.
2. It Was Renee Who Was Able to Tame Scott Baio’s Bachelor Ways
Scott Baio was known as a bit of a playboy in Hollywood, having dated a plethora of celebrity women, including Pamela Anderson. On Scott Baio Is 45…and Single, we see Renee give Scott Baio somewhat of an ultimatum in their relationship. In the end, Baio realizes that he’s over his old ways and wants to be with Renee.
Renee’s maiden name is Sloan and when she met Baio, she was actress. She has also been stunt woman and a swimsuit model. In fact, she was actually Pamela Anderson’s body double in Baywatch.
3. Renee Has Two Daughters
Renee has one daughter (Kalyn LaNae’ Sloan) from a previous relationship, who was weary of Baio when he was dating her mother, which was shown on the couple’s reality show. Together, Renee and Scott Baio have a daughter named Bailey. Renee was initially pregnant with twins, but lost one of the babies during the pregnancy.
Renee actually told Baio her pregnancy news on the finale of Scott Baio Is 45…and Single. The second season of the show was titled Scott Baio Is 46…and Pregnant.
Scott and Renee Baio have their own nonprofit organization together, named after their daughter, and Renee’s Twitter profile reads:
I married most girls’ teen dream boy. Together we have an amazing girl, after whom we named our nonprofit. The Bailey Baio Angel Foundation.
They started the organization after Bailey tested a false positive for a rare metabolic disorder. It provides financial support to families who are dealing with metabolic disorders.
4. She Has Spoken Out About Her Brain Tumor
Renee Baio has told People that she has a specific reason for making her brain tumor news public, explaining that:
I only wish my health issues to be open to the public in the hope that I can educate others. I want to bring awareness to this. I’ve been suffering from migraines and cluster headaches for almost two years and I was told that because I am over 40 and premenopausal, my hormones had changed. Unfortunately, a lot of women are given this explanation and they need to get checked out – an MRI did not pick up the tumor, but an MRI with contrast spotted it.
She then added:
God does not challenge weak people – he has laid this upon me and I’m not going to question it. If I can save one person along the way, I’m okay. The trials and tribulations my special needs kids go through daily is far greater than the journey I’m about to go on.
5. Renee Baio Was Previously Diagnosed With Breast Cancer
People reports that Renee was also diagnosed with DCIS stage 0-1 early breast cancer in 2010. She ended up getting a lumpectomy, but had to get two others since then, both of which were benign.
