On tonight’s episode of The Bachelorette, star Kaitlyn Bristowe realizes that she needs to tell the other contestants about her big secret. In an earlier episode, Bristowe’s one-on-one date with Nick Viall ended up being an all-nighter and the two had sex. Kaitlyn has struggled with the fact that she and Nick had sex because she didn’t want the news getting to the other guys and if it did, she wanted to be the one to tell them. She has felt that she made a mistake having sex with someone while she’s dating the other contestants at the same time. With only five guys left, tonight is finally the night when Kaitlyn reveals that she and Nick had sex and the guys do not take it well. In particular, Shawn Booth, who detests Nick Viall to begin with, becomes extremely hurt and emotional when he learns the news.
The first person that Kaitlyn breaks the news to is Shawn Booth. She sits down alone with him and lets him know what happened with Nick. At first, Shawn is speechless, but the first question he asks her is if she regrets having sex with Nick. Kaitlyn tells him that she felt tremendous guilt. Shawn says he needs a minute to regroup before he talks about it more with her. When Shawn returns, he thanks her for her honesty and he tells her that hearing what happened does hurt. He says he decides that he’s going to fight through it and wants to be with her.
Prior to this episode, it seemed like Ben kind of had an idea about what may have happened between Kaitlyn and Nick on their solo date, so there was really no need to tell him. As for Jared, he was let go tonight, so there was no need there either.
