Tonight is the finale of Jon Stewart on The Daily Show and Stewart is ready for it to all be over … or is he? Leading up to tonight’s finale, Stewart has talked about his departure and has even said that the world is a worse place since he started on the show. Stewart joked:
Before I see the gentle yet firm gravitation pull of my home planet, New Jersey, I’d like to reflect on what we’ve built here over these past 16 years … What the fuck is going on here?! The world is demonstrably worse than when I started. Have I caused this? Hath my efforts all be for naught? As I shuffle off this basic cable coil, must I discover my years of evisceration have bettered nothing? Sixteen years of barbs and jeers spurred none to greatness.
Tonight’s finale will air in its normal time slot at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT time delay, but will run longer than usual. Comedy Central has kept many of the details under wraps, but it has noted that the hashtag #JonVoyage will be used for Stewart’s send-off.
Politico has reported that several people have taped farewells for Stewart’s finale and some of those cameos include John McCain and Chuck Schumer.
On September 28, 2015, Trevor Noah will make his debut as host of The Daily Show.
Stay tuned tonight for live coverage of the grand finale.
