One Direction is rumored to be disbanding and will not tour their fifth album, The Sun reported. Meanwhile, other people are disputing the reports and saying that One Direction will indeed be touring for their fifth album. Back in June, a similar rumor surfaced and Billboard reported that it was not true. The boy band, which consists of Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan, are still on good terms. Zayne Malik left the band to pursue a solo career earlier this year. The band has not yet issued an official statement.

Here’s what we know so far.

The hiatus will last for at least 12 months so the members of the band can pursue solo careers. After that, the band may get back together, The Mirror reported. After a series of long tours, the band was ready for this move, The Sun reported. They wanted to go out on top, an anonymous source from One Direction told The Sun:

But for now it is the end and they go out on top as the world’s most popular music act.”

It is not yet confirmed if these rumors are true. If so, this will be the first time that the members of the band will be free agents in five years. Negotiations for each band member’s future are beginning in the coming weeks. The Sun reported that Styles is already being courted by Sony, since he is the most likely to have a huge solo career. Styles is also considering an acting career with Hollywood. Meanwhile, Niall has been writing songs with Justin Bieber. Payne has said he isn’t interested in a solo career and wants to focus on songwriting and producing, according to The Sun. Tomlinson is looking into starting a record company and may also be a judge on the X-Factor, The Sun reported.

If the rumors are true, then the band’s last concert will take place on October 31, 2015, at Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield. The hiatus would also mean that the band will not be touring for its fifth album, The Sun reported. One Direction will, however, be fulfilling promotional commitments for their record label, Syco, through February, Contact Music reported.

One Direction’s newest album will be released around Christmas time and sources say the album is the band’s best yet and there will likely be at least three smash hits from the album. A single for the album, called “Drag Me Down,” was released this month. The video was shot at NASA Space Center in Houston.

It is definitely not a split and they fully intend to get back together at some time in the future.”

An anonymous source, which spoke to The Sun, said that this was going to be the decision, whether Malik was there or not. The source said the band has been happy and successful without Malik, although they would have preferred for him to stay.

The highly successful band has sold more than 50 million records and has more than 91 number one songs across the world, The Sun reported. They have performed in front of more than 7.5 million people.
