It all goes down tonight … Mulder and Scully are back with a six-episode mini-series revival of The X-Files. Get all the details on the premiere episode live right here as it happens. And, don’t forget to watch episode 2 tomorrow as the show enters its actual time slot. Read on below for the live recap … And, don’t forget … The truth is still out there …

The show begins with Mulder introducing himself, talking about when his sister disappeared when she was 12 years old, when he believed it to be an alien abduction. He spoke about his work on exploring aliens and the existence of extraterrestrials through the FBI in a department known as The X-Files. He says that the X-Files had been closed, but his personal obsession did not cease.

In a voice-over, Mulder continues to talk about all the reported UFO sightings over the years and the idea of government cover-ups. Mulder then instructs us to ask, “Are we truly alone? … Or, are we being lied to?”

As the credits role, we hear the theme music we’ve waited years to hear and see old throwback footage from the original series.

At this point, we still have not seen Mulder or Scully. The suspense is mounting …

In the next scene, a bus is driving through High Desert in New Mexico. Clearly, this is meant to be a scene from many years ago (perhaps in the 1940s or 50s). Two men are on the bus, one some kind of agent and the other a professor. They pull up to a crashed UFO.

Dr. Scully is heading into surgery when she gets an emergency phone call from Skinner. The show then cuts to Mulder watching Obama on Jimmy Kimmel. Mulder is on the phone with Scully who tells him that Skinner is looking for him. A man named Tad O’Malley (played by Joel McHale), who talks about UFO conspiracies on his TV show “Truth Squad,” wants to meet with him and he agrees as long as Scully goes with him.

It’s clear that Scully and Mulder have had a failed romance in the past. O’Malley shows up and requests that the duo meet with him in his limo rather than the street. O’Malley wants Scully and Mulder’s help to unlock one of the “biggest conspiracies” the world has ever seen. They pull up to a home in the middle of nowhere and a girl named Sveta answers. She says that Mulder interviewed her when she was a little girl after her first abduction. She shows the duo her scoop-like scars from the aliens and reveals that the aliens made her pregnant a number of times and they took the unborn children before they were born. She confesses she has alien DNA “for sure.”

We flash back to the professor at the UFO site as he witnesses the shooting of an actual alien.

Scully tests Sveta’s DNA and sveta reveals that she knows things. She says that Scully and Mulder were together in the past. She says that Mulder was depressed and that his depression is what killed their relationship. Sveta also says that Scully and Mulder have a child together. That’s right. Apparently Mulder and Scully had a baby!

In the next scene, O’Malley brings Mulder to a warehouse to see an ARV (alien replica vehicle). It runs on “free energy” that the government had apparently been aware of since the 1940’s. O’Malley then shows the ARV can disappear.

We then go back to the shot alien that the professor has decided to try to bring back to life.

O’Malley visits Scully at work as she talks about a genetic disorder where children are born without ears. She says it is unrelated to “The X-Files.” O’Malley then tells Scully that the reason for his visit is because he wanted to see her again.

Next we see Mulder visiting Sveta again. He asks her about her unborn babies being taken and he assures her that anything she tells him he can keep between them. Sveta reveals she’s afraid and believes it wasn’t the aliens who took her babies. She believes that they were men who took her children. She says she was afraid that they would kill her if she ever revealed what they did. Was it the government who was taking her kids?

Mulder calls Scully as she is in the car with O’Malley enjoying what looks like a little date. Mulder tells Scully that Sveta is the key to everything and he believes they’ve been lied to about everything they’ve ever known.

Mulder visits Skinner to take him to “The X-Files,” but the files have disappeared. He tells Skinner that he is owed answers and Skinner is angry but says he’s been looking out for Mulder. Skinner says that a lot has changed since the 9/11 attacks and he tells Mulder to do something about it.

When Scully gets results back from the DNA tests, she says she wants them retested.

Mulder believes alien technology has been used against them by the government over the years. Scully visits Mulder and Mulder tries to convince her to be on board. Scully tells him that he is on dangerous ground as he tells her that Sveta is the key. O’Malley pulls up behind Scully, who is trying to leave, and they all encourage Scully to stay. They tell Scully that the government hopes to use alien technology to eventually take over the world. They said what will seem like a terrorist attack on America or an alien invasion will be the takeover. Scully says that saying these things is borderline treason. She then reveals that Sveta has no evidence of alien DNA.

The next day, Sveta tells the media that Tad O’Malley was making her say lies, putting ideas in her head. Mulder and O’Malley then realize that the government got to her. They break into where the ARV is and blow it up. And, Sveta is nowhere to be found. When Scully tries to look up O’Malley’s TV show online, the website has been taken down. She makes her way to her car in the parking garage and finds the words “Don’t Give Up” on her car. Mulder then approaches her in the garage. Scully reveals that the DNA tests have come back positive, for both Sveta and herself. She then receives an urgent text message from Skinner to meet.

In the next scene, Sveta is driving and her car suddenly dies. Suddenly a green light beam from a spaceship pierces down into her car. As she tries to escape the vehicle, it explodes.

The Smoking Man is then shown saying that there’s a small problem … They’ve reopened “The X-Files.”

The End … Find out more of the truth tomorrow on FOX at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT.
