The star of VH-1's Mob Wives Big Ang aka Angela Raiola lost her battle with State 4 throat cancer at around 3 a.m. on February 18. Incorrect reports of her death had begun to circulate on the night of February 17. It was just a few hours later when Big Ang's reps confirmed her passing in a Twitter post.
Her co-stars from the hit show Mob Wives were quick to take to Twitter and Instagram to pay tribute to their fallen star. TMZ reports that Ang passed away in a Manhattan hospital, surrounded by love ones.
The Hollywood Reporter's Joe Bel Bruno tweeted that Murphy was by Big Ang's side as she passed away. As the news that Big Ang had died spread, he wrote on his Twitter page, "I will always love you forever please watch over the grandkids I know you will."
During her cancer fight, a Go Fund Me page had raised $45,000 to help Raiola's family pay for her treatments. Her uncle was Salvatore "Sally Dogs" Lombardi, a former captain in the Genovese crime family.
Big Ang Angela Raiola was 55 years old. She's survived by her children, Raquel and Anthony, and her six grandchildren.
