It’s the 60th anniversary of Disneyland and ABC is featuring a two-hour special to commemorate the occasion. Celebrities including Harrison Ford, Neil Patrick Harris, Jason Bateman, Ginnifer Goodwin, Dick Van Dyke, John Stamos, Hilary Duff, and Kerry Washington all showed up for the taping of the event, along with your favorite Disney characters. A big dance performance for the opening of the show was led by Dancing With the Stars pros Derek Hough and Witney Carson as well. Plus, even more stars appeared in order to perform Disney tunes for the anniversary special, from Elton John to Fall Out Boy.
Disneyland producer Jesse Ignjatovic talked about the special to IGN, revealing that:
When you have a show where Helen Mirren comes out wearing her Mickey ears, these are true fans. Or Harrison Ford or Jimmy Kimmel or anyone. Everyone that was there, they’re just so passionate about Disney and Disneyland. That goes for the performers too. They wanted to come in and put their own take on these classics, but all with still being respectful of what the original inspiration of the song and the music was. I think it wasn’t that difficult. Everyone wanted to participate. Everyone was there earnestly and were excited to be there.
