On Monday night, Taylor Swift won Album of the Year at the 2016 Grammy Awards for the second time. And, while she took time to thank her collaborators, she was sure to bring up a recent diss that Kanye West made about her on his latest album. Swift told all the young women watching that others may try to cut down your successes or take credit for your fame, but that’s not what is important. Without saying his actual name, Swift was clearly taking a jab at Kanye West. Here’s the full video:
Recently, Kanye, who had made up with Taylor Swift a long time ago, waged war again by throwing some shade her way. On Kanye’s new album, he delivered a diss against Swift, but Just Jared says Kanye says Swift OK’d the lyric. A rep for Swift released this statement in response:
She declined and cautioned him about releasing a song with such a strong misogynistic message. Taylor was never made aware of the actual lyric, ‘I made that bitch famous.’
The controversial lyric is “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that bitch famous,” and it is from Kanye’s new song “Famous.” Several stars have come to Swift’s defense in the media.
Swift and West’s original beef began when he interrupted her acceptance speech for Best Female Video at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, grabbing the microphone from her to say that Beyonce should have won. They since made up, but it looks like the feud is back on.
