‘The Walking Dead’ Season 6: Episode 14 – Recap & Spoilers

4. Denise Meets Her End After a Very Powerful Moment of Self Reflection

Daryl, Denise and Rosita move inside the small building they’ve just found. It seems to be a small mall they’ve entered. Denise struggles to keep down her lunch due to the horrid scent inside. Rosita locates the pharmacy and Daryl finds a way to open the front gate. Denise keeps watch as Daryl and Rosita try to pick up any medicine they can find. Something can be overheard wandering inside the next room. Denise takes it upon herself to find out exactly what’s making such a racket. She enters a darkened room that looks to have once been a nursery. She finds a decrepit Walker with its jaw halfway off. She then looks into a bloody sink and spots a baby shoe, which lets her know that something horrible took place here. She exits the back room in horror and accidentally slams into some glass collectibles in another room. She leaves the building altogether after Rosita asks her what she was doing. Denise sits outside and tries to recollect herself after witnessing such a terrible sight.

Daryl and Rosita find Denise outside. Daryl compliments her on finding this location and they they go about their business. Daryl and Denise chat about their past family friends while they walk back to their truck. When they walk back across the train tracks, Denise stops and finds a car with a cooler inside of it. That car also happens to have a live Walker inside of it as well. Denise lets Daryl and Rosita know that they should grab the cooler, but they tell her that they don’t need to. Denise ignores them and chooses to get the cooler herself. She almost loses her life fighting with the Walker, which alerts Daryl and Rosita to her location. Denise seems to want to prove herself by taking on this Walker herself.

She manages to kill it off and discover a cooler full of sodas. Denise gives them an entire speech about wanting to become stronger. Near the end of her speech, an arrow is shot right through her eye. All of a sudden, a group of armed survivors walks out with Eugene in tow. They quickly make Daryl and Rosita put down their weapons.

5. A Past Foe of Daryl’s Engages With Him and His Group

Daryl and Rosita encounter the main leader of the group that just captured them. The leader talks down to them and forces them to relinquish their weapons. Daryl recognizes the man and lets him know that he should have killed him when he had the chance. The man wielding Daryl’s crossbow alludes to the last time him and Daryl interacted. Eugene then spots Abraham in the distance. Meanwhile, the familiar man makes it clear that Daryl and Rosita need to bring them to Alexandria and let them take anything/anyone they please.

Eugene eventually lets them know that Abraham is hiding behind a set of barrels. When one of the leader’s men walks over to find him, Eugene decides to bite the leader’s “jewels.” A huge gunfight breaks out and Abraham, Rosita and Daryl engage with their enemies. The group decides to fall back after several tense moments. Daryl looks to shoot the leader down, but Rosita stops him before he can put an arrow through his head. The three of them pick up Eugene, who’s just been shot. They then slowly walk past Denise’s prone body.

6. Carol Makes a Tough Decision and Leaves Alexandria Behind

Eugene is in the hospital recovering while the group watches over him. Abraham lets them all know that Rick is on his way. Daryl looks outside the window with a face full of disappointment on his face. Eugene finally wakes up and strikes up another conversation with Abraham. Eugene seems to have finally proven himself and Abraham now seems convinced. Abraham exits the hospital and finds Sasha and pours his heart out to her. Sasha finally finds it within herself to invite Abraham inside for some “alone time.”

Back at Alexandria’s gravesite, Daryl can be seen laying Denise to rest while Carol watches him. Carol looks as if she’s finally reached her breaking point. Carol has written a letter to her new lover while the start of this episode’s scenes play all over again. Carol’s voice can be heard narrating the letter as the people of Alexandria tend to their duties. The last shot shows Morgan staring at the place where Carol was once sitting. Carol has decided to leave Alexandria altogether.
