The legendary singer Prince has just died today, but many fans are wondering about arrangements for his funeral already. Of course, it may be days before we hear any official plans, but we will be updating this post with everything we know as news is released, so be sure to check in.
So far, what has definitely been reported is the Westboro Baptist Church is threatening to picket the funeral. According to Radar Online, Prince’s family has begun to gather in Minnesota at the late legend’s home in order to mourn the loss of their loved one, plan his funeral, and find out about his death.
As for funeral plans, this could go so many ways. With Michael Jackson, he had celebrity speakers, a gold casket, and his funeral was televised for all to see. David Bowie, on the other hand, did not have a public or large funeral and he said goodbye with a final album just before his passing. There were, however, numerous tributes and a memorial concert done in his honor. When Whitney Houston died, she had a big funeral, but Houston’s privacy was violated when a photo of her lying dead in her coffin at the funeral home was released. Upon Celine Dion’s husband Rene Angelil’s death, the family held a massive service in Canada, which was televised and fans could watch the funeral online all over the world. Depending how the family wishes to handle this tragic loss, we will have to wait and see what happens.
There will, without a doubt, be tributes made in Prince’s honor. Whether performances are held individually by artists who admired the star or official tributes are made at awards shows, the legend will not be forgotten.
