‘Supergirl’ Season 1 Finale: ‘Better Angels’ Spoilers

The stakes are at an all-time high in the Supergirl season one finale. Supergirl must battle an unexpected foe and risk everything — including her own life — to prevent Non and Indigo from destroying every person on Earth.

It’s not all life or death in the first season’s final hour. The finale will also include at least one romantic moment for Kara and James, who were rudely interrupted by Non launching Myriad at exactly the moment the two co-workers locked lips in Kara’s apartment.

Here’s everything you need to know about Monday night’s episode, “Better Angels.”

Will Alex Kill Her Sister Kara?

When J’onn J’onzz couldn’t protect Alex’s mind from Myriad, Non and Indigo took control of the oldest Danvers sister and transformed her into Supergirl’s “ultimate opponent.” Wielding a sword made of Kryptonite, Alex is forced to battle her sister under the control of Non and Indigo.

Can anyone get through to her before she kills Kara? It may come down to hearing her mother’s voice. Dr. Eliza Danvers arrives on the scene with J’onn just before Alex delivers her final blow.

Supergirl Takes Her Message of Hope to the Masses

Using “dinosaur” technology, Maxwell Lord believes he can rig up a system that will allow Supergirl to deliver a message of hope to the people of National City via their televisions, computers and phones. If he can pull it off, he’s even more of a genius than he thought (his words, of course).

In the scene above, Alex reveals how she could hear and see what she was doing while under mind control, but was powerless to stop it. Only upon hearing her mother talk about her father was Alex able to feel hope and break the Myriad curse.

Kara and James Get Another Shot at Love

Will James remember Kara’s kiss? Will they take their friendship to the next level?

Timing wasn’t on Kara’s side when she finally put aside her inhibitions and showed James how she really felt by kissing him in her kitchen. Unfortunately at the exact time of their lip-lock, Non’s Myriad plan kicked in and turned James into a walking zombie.

Before the season wraps up, James and Kara will get another chance to take their relationship to the next level. Brooks teased TVGuide.com that his character will take a “brave step” in the final moments of the episode in regards to Kara.

He is more of his own man. He’s more sure of the things he wants in his life. There is a surprise moment toward the end where James takes a brave step with Kara. That’s a huge 180 in some ways. The magnet of attraction for these two has been pulling strongly all season and it only seems fair that if Kara can save the world she can finally have a moment with the guy she’s been pining for since the first episode.

Fans Should Expect Someone to Die

Don’t be surprised if someone dies in the Supergirl seasson finale. Let’s just hope it’s not a fan favorite.

Although it appears Alex ultimately spares Supergirl’s life, someone else won’t be so lucky by the end of the episode. Executive producer Greg Berlanti warned Entertainment Weekly that fans “should” expect someone to die in the finale, “only because it would be a lot less exciting if I said no.”

It’s unclear exactly who will bite the bullet (or perhaps the Kryptonite in this case), but my money is on the least consequential characters in this final battle, the villains — Non and Indigo. If not both than at least one will be saying hello to Kara’s birth parents.

CBS Has Not Renewed ‘Supergirl’ for a Second Season

Supergirl is still looking for a season two pick up from CBS.

CBS announced season renewals for the majority of its shows earlier this year, but left its freshmen series, including Supergirl, off the list. An announcement on season two will likely come when the network announces its 2016 fall schedule in May, but CBS CEO Leslie Moonves already said that “about five” of the freshmen shows would be renewed for another season.
