Marvel's Daredevil: Seasons 1 & 2 Streaming The first Marvel series to premiere on Netflix proved one of the strongest original series for the streaming service. More than 10 percent of Netflix subscribers watched at least one episode within the first 11 days of its release on April 10, 2015, according to Variety. In comparison, the third season of House of Cards had 6.5 percent of users tuning in over the first 30 days of its February 27, 2015 premiere and 7.3 users watching Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt in its first month last season. Daredevil, starring Charlie Cox, returned to more rave reviews in season two and introduced the anti-hero The Punisher, played by Jon Bernthal, who is getting a spinoff series.
Netflix may delay a third season to premiere either a second season of Jessica Jones or launch the fourth Defenders series, Iron Fist. Marvel also tapped Daredevil showrunners Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez to serve the same capacity for The Defenders mini-series event, which will start production later this year, Cox told reporters at a Netflix event held in Paris in April. He didn’t know (or couldn’t divulge) any further plot details for the new series or how storylines left open at the end of Daredevil’s second season would conclude. “I have no idea what the storyline is going to be for that show. I’m very excited to see how those world’s combine… and interested to see tonally how those shows become one,” he said. “In terms of wrapping up any story lines, maybe they’ll do some of that in The Defenders. Or maybe they won’t." (Photo credit: Netflix)
