The season 5 finale of Scandal airs tonight at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and Olivia Pope is faced with a very difficult task (as usual). We thought all was lost for Olivia and Jake when Liv told Jake she didn’t love him in order to save his life. If Jake didn’t get married, Papa Pope promised Liv that he would murder Jake. Now, Jake wants to escape from the clutches of Papa Pope and Liv is on the hunt to find a candidate to be in the running for Vice President for Mellie.

The official synopsis for tonight’s episode reads: As each presidential candidate gets ready to announce their running mate, Olivia finds herself in a potentially dire situation. Meanwhile, Cyrus is presented with damaging information that could alter the presidential race entirely.

Previously on Scandal, Edison ended his run in the presidential election while Mellie went full steam ahead with hers. Meanwhile, Susan and David ended their relationship … Well, Susan pretty much just dumped David. Liv’s abortion was brought up to her in confidence and she found out that her father, Papa Pope, knew about it. And, as far as Jake is concerned, he secretly told Edison that he wanted to get away from Papa Pope and needed Liv’s help in order to do that. Will Jake be able to escape?
