Ellen DeGeneres has tapped Sia to sing a cover of Nat King Cole’s “Unforgettable” for the Finding Dory soundtrack. The song will appear as the closing track in the Finding Nemo sequel, which finds DeGeneres reprising her role as the voice of the friendly-but-forgetful Dory.
Sia performed her “Unforgettable” cover on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Friday. The 40-year-old singer wore her trademark wig topped with a giant black bow. After her performance, she told DeGeneres, “Dory’s story makes me teary,” then added, “When Ellen asked me, I couldn’t refuse.”
Finding Dory is the sequel to the Disney-Pixar film, Finding Nemo, which premiered in 2003. DeGeneres returns to voice the blue tang fish named Dory, who in the new movie recovers childhood memories that reunite her with old family and friends. Albert Brooks also returns to lend his voice to the clown fish Marlin.
Other big names lending their voice include Idris Elba, Kate McKinnon, Dominic West, Diane Keaton, Bill Hader, Kaitlin Olson, Ed O’Neill, Ty Burrell and Eugene Levy. The film’s co-director Andrew Stanton also reprises his voice role as Crush, the sea turtle.
Finding Dory will find its way into theaters on June 17.
Sia will hit the road this fall with opening act Miguel for her first tour in five years. She starts abroad, performing in Moscow on August 4 before heading to Europe with stops in Turkey and Israel as well. The “Chandelier” singer kicks off the North American leg of her tour on September 29 in Seattle, Washington at the Key Arena.
