Is ‘Murder in the First’ on TV Tonight?

Murder in the First fans may be wondering why the show’s third season isn’t premiering tonight at its previously schedule time. The show’s start date has been pushed back one week, and the Season 3 premiere of Murder in the First will now take place next Sunday, June 26, at 7pm PT/10pm ET on TNT.

So, why exactly is the show being pushed back? Last week, the two-hour premiere of The Last Ship was delayed as a result of the tragedy in Orlando. Season 3 of Murder in the First was, consequently, pushed back one week as well.

The plot synopsis for next week’s premiere episode reads:

Season three kicks off for Homicide Inspectors Terry English and Hildy Mulligan when an all-star quarterback is murdered in the middle of a crowded club in front of his pop star girlfriend. D.A. Mario Siletti and his wife are involved in a tragic car accident that could end his career and his marriage. And an untimely diagnosis threatens Hildy’s future.

The Season 2 finale left us with many unanswered questions, but according to CarterMatt, this season is shaping up to be “the most intense, harrowing season we’ve seen so far as the entire city of San Francisco could be up in arms.” The death of a high-profile athlete leads to disarray, and mounting tensions for Terry and Hildy. The website adds, “From here, it looks as though things could turn political and racially-charged over the shooting of a black man by the police, which of course has been a hot-button topic in the news and has also been featured in many other crime TV shows, whether it be ‘Chicago PD’ or ‘Blue Bloods.'”

Be sure to watch the Season 3 premiere of Murder in the First next Sunday, June 26, at 7pm PT/10pm ET on TNT.
