Tonight is the 2016 Tony Awards and host James Corden delivered the event’s opening performance.
Prior to the opening performance, Corden appeared on stage to talk about the horrific event of the nightclub shooting in Orlando, Florida.

For the opening, cast members from “Hamilton” came out on stage, singing jokes about Tonys host Corden. Corden then appeared on stage to join in on the musical performance briefly before welcoming the audience to the 2016 Tony Awards. While giving an introduction about what to expect in the show tonight, Corden joked that the show wouldn’t just be about “Hamilton” … that there would also be commercial breaks. He also said that the night would be just like the Oscars … but with diversity.
Corden followed up his short speech with a singing performance detailing his love for the theater from a young age. In the performance, he took on roles from musicals ranging from The Sound of Music to Grease! to Les Miserables.
