Pokemon Go fans are attending a number of fun, free events for Comic-Con in San Diego. Of course, there’s the big Pokemon Go panel in Hall H on Sunday. But even if you’re not attending the panel, you can still attend a free or low-cost event. We’ll be posting photos of these events after they’re over and sharing links in this story, so bookmark the story to see if you end up in one of the photos in our galleries!
Pokemon Go Panel
Niantic Labs is hosting a Pokemon Go panel at Comic-Con. It will take place on Sunday, July 24 at 1:45 p.m. Pacific Time. The panel is in Hall H with a capacity of 6,500. It was originally scheduled for Thursday, July 21 in a small room for only 480 people, but it was moved. The panel is called “Re-Imaging Reality: Bringing Games Into the Real World With Ingress and Pokemon Go.”
Balboa Park Meetup
On Saturday, July 23, Pokemon Go players will be meeting up in Balboa Park at 1549 El Prado in San Diego. The event starts at noon local time. So far, 12,000 have expressed interest and 4,800 have said they are going. This meeting is a casual meet-up for trainers that may also include activities that encourage people to tour the local attractions. You can learn more about the event at the Facebook group here.
Before you go, you may want to be familiar with Balboa Park’s rules. People at the park aren’t allowed in the reflection pool or the koi ponds in front of the Botanical Gardens, for example.
Another event is also happening on Saturday, July 23 at 7 p.m. local time. This one is at Roy’s behind the Convention Center (333 W. Harbor Drive in San Diego.) So far, 702 people are going and 2600 people are interested. You can read all about it on Facebook. Attendees are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite Pokemon characters. You won’t need a badge to attend this event.
Pokemon Go Tours & Walks
Pokemon Go tours are running through July 24. For $23.20, you’ll be taken to the three hottest spots for dropping lures and participating in the best gym battles. The tours pick people up at 2 p.m., then visit Balboa Park, North Park, and Mission Beach. You must purchase your ticket in advance in order to attend. You can buy a ticket here.
The Shop Otay Ranch Library in Chula Vista is hosting a Poke Walk on July 24 from 2 to 3 p.m. Read more about it here.
