‘Luke Cage’: Meet the Cast of Marvel’s New Netflix Show

Mike Colter as Luke Cage

Mike Colter made his debut as Luke Cage in Jessica Jones, making the two shows more connected than Daredevil is to the others. That's because in the comics, Luke and Jessica fall in love, as they did in Jessica Jones. Surprisingly, Colter didn't just make a cameo - he played a key role in several episodes. As Colter told ComicBook.com last year, Luke Cage picks up a few months after Jessica Jones ended. He's moved to Harlem after there was nothing left for him in Hell's Kitchen.

"He’s a neighborhood hero, very much linked to New York and Jessica Jones," Colter said of his character in a List.co.uk interview. "It’s all part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe but Luke Cage is a darker, grittier, more tangible character than Iron Man or Thor. He likes to keep things close to his chest, operate on the hush-hush. He has these abilities but he’s not sure how and when to use them. He’s a very nuanced character." (Myles Aronowitz/Netflix)
