On Sunday night, Miss Arkansas Savvy Shields was named Miss America 2017. On night two of the preliminaries, Shields won the talent portion of the competition with her jazz routine set to the song of “Hey Just Keep Moving the Line”. Tonight, she claimed the crown and the title of Miss America.

1. She Is Studying Fine Arts at the University of Arkansas

Shields, who was named Miss Arkansas a mere five weeks ago, is majoring in art with a minor in business. She is also religious. According to Hollywood Life, her former Twitter bio says she loves Jesus. Shields prayed for her fellow competitors the night before the competition.
2. She Answered a Question About Hillary Clinton For Her Final Q&A

For her final Q&A, Shields was asked about her thoughts on Hillary Clinton. She responded by saying, “If you’re trying to be leader of the free world, everything you say and do matters. And all of your actions are held to a higher standard. And unfortunately, the media does love to sensationalize everything. It’s hard to decide what is truth and what is truly scandal. Both of the contestants have done a great job.”
Shields, who is a Fayetteville native, received $2,000 in scholarship money for her win on night two of Miss America for her dance routine.
3. Her ‘Secret Dream’ Is to Become a Background Dancer for Beyonce
According to NJ.com, Shields’ ‘secret dream’ is to become a background dancer for Beyonce. As for her dance routine, which was set to a song from NBC’s “Smash”– that’s pretty much second nature to her by now. Shields told NJ.com, “I love ‘Smash’ and it’s playing in my car every second I get it.”
4. Her Platform Is “Eat Better, Live Better”
In college, Shields lost sight of her healthy eating habits and developed health problems as a result of it. Her platform, “eat better, live better” aims to inspire people in Arkansas, and across the US, to eat better. Her platform is especially important considering she comes from one of the most obese states in the country.
5. She Has a Boyfriend

According to Hollywood Life, Shields is dating a man named Nate Wolf. Before the Miss America competition, she posted a photo with the caption, “A special thank you needs to go to the greatest boyfriend in pageant history. He’s the real deal.”
