Description: Terror Behind the Walls is a haunted house that takes place in the walls of Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia’s Fairmont neighborhood. It’s been consistently ranked as one of the scariest attractions in the country. According to Visit Philly, Eastern State Penitentiary is one of the most famous and expensive prisons in the country. This particular experience is “designed to be high-startle”, and uses quality lighting, sound, and other special effects to make the experience as scary as possible– over 200 actors are involved in the exhibit, which is split into six attractions on an 11-acre complex.

Description: Brighton’s complex is a series of old warehouses that was originally used to house mentally unstable and psychologically disabled individuals in the mid 1940s. The site reads “After years of extremely harsh living conditions, grotesque medical experiments, staff disappearances, and screams spilling into the residential areas during the night, the state permanently closed the facility in 1952 pending a full investigation. No such results of an investigation can be found to date.”
