NYCC TV Preview: ‘The Walking Dead,’ ‘Westworld,’ ‘Iron Fist’ & More

If San Diego Comic Con is all about movies, then New York Comic Con focuses on television. That’s the case this year, as even more television panels have been added. NYCC has outgrown the Javits Center in Manhattan, so ReedPOP has added panels at the Hammerstein Ballroom at 311 West 34th Street and the Theater at Madison Square Garden. Read on for a preview of the main television panels.


Thursday, October 6

Main Stage at the Javits Center

AMC Presents Comic Book Men: Kevin Smith is always fascinating to listen to. This year, the Comic Book Men panel is among the first events, kicking off at 12:15 p.m.

Tales from the TARDIS with Matt Smith, Alex Kingston and Jenna Coleman: Matt Smith, Jenna Coleman and Alex Kingston take the stage to discuss their time on Doctor Who at 2 p.m.

World Premiere & Adam West, Too – Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders: At 5:30 p.m., Adam West, who played Batman on the 1960s series, will be on hand for the premiere of Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders, an animated film done in the style of the ’60s show.

Hammerstein Ballroom

STARZ Presents: Ash vs Evil Dead: The main cast for Ash vs. Evil Dead will help wake up convention goers at 11 a.m.

Other panels at the Hammerstein Ballroom on Thursday include Nickelodeon’s Legends of the Hidden Temple (5:15 p.m.) and Archer (6:45 p.m.).


Friday, October 7

Main Stage at the Javits Center

Marvel Television Presents: Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D: Ghost Rider: Marvel TV chief Jeph Loeb will introduce a new episode of SHIELD at 7:30 p.m.

Hammerstein Ballroom

Elementary: The cast of CBS’ Elementary, including Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu, will talk about what’s coming to the new season at 1 p.m.

Once Upon a Time: The Once Upon A Time team will also preview their new season at 4:15 p.m.

The Theater at Madison Square Garden

BBC America Takeover Featuring Doctor Who, Class and Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency: BBC America’s panel has been moved to Madison Square Garden and will start at 10:30 a.m. The casts of Doctor Who, Class and Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency will be there.


Saturday, October 8

Main Stage at the Javits Center

Inside Gotham with David Mazouz, Erin Richards and Robin Lord Taylor: Three actors from the cast of Fox’s Gotham will be on hand to catch us up on where the show is going at 11:30 a.m.

24: Legacy: Fox’s new 24 spin-off, 24: Legacy, will partly debut at NYCC. The network is only planning on playing the first half of the pilot, but don’t be surprised if the entirety of it is shown. Members of the cast will also be at the 3 p.m. panel.

The Netflix Original Series Marvel’s Iron Fist: The Saturday at last year’s NYCC ended with the Marvel Netflix panel and that’s the cast this year. Iron Fist won’t be available until March, but Jeph Loeb and the cast will show off new footage at the 6:30 p.m. panel.

Hammerstein Ballroom

On Saturday, the Hammerstein Ballroom plays host to panels on Teen Wolf (10:30 a.m.); Shadowhunters (12 p.m.); The Man in the High Castle (1:30 p.m.); and The Expanse & The Magicians (3 p.m.)

The Theater at Madison Square Garden

AMC’s The Walking Dead: The big one. The Walking Dead panel is again at Madison Square Garden, kicking off at 5:30 p.m. The audience will also get a preview of season 7.


Sunday, October 9

Main Stage at the Javits Center

Jon Bernthal Spotlight: Jon Bernthal, who plays Frank Castle/The Punisher on Daredevil, will get his own panel at 2:30 p.m. Since The Punisher just started filming, he should have much to talk about.

Sleepy Hollow: Fox’s Sleepy Hollow, which won’t be back until early next year, gets the last panel of the weekend at the Main Stage. It starts at 4:15 p.m.

Hammerstein Ballroom

FX Networks Presents: Legion: The panel on FX’s Legion at 12:30 p.m. should be interesting. Legion is the first series set in the X-Men universe from Fox.

Welcome to Westworld: HBO’s new hit series Westworld will have a panel at 3:30 p.m. This one is going to be really popular, since episode two will be screened a few hours before it airs.
