Here’s a look at Le Gallo and his relationship with Adams.
1. Le Gallo & Adams Were in an Acting Class Together for a Year Before She Got to Know Him Outside Class
Le Gallo and Adams met during an acting class in Los Angeles. They were in the same class for a year and became friends, but didn’t think of each other in romantic terms for a year. As Adams explained to Vanity Fair in 2008, they were both seeing other people at the time. “I was really focused on the classes—he was a little scared of me,” she said.
However, one weekend, they made a short film together and she finally got to know him outside of class. She explained:
And I just found him to be such a genuine, caring person. And assertive! He demanded that we go out on a date. He said, ‘I know you’re getting over this [other] guy, but I’m taking you out on Wednesday.’ I think that was it exactly. And I was like, ‘And so you are!’ That was six years ago.
Around this time, Adams decided to become a redhead, dying her blond hair. Around that time, Adams’ career also began to take off, as she starred in a TV show called Dr. Vegas with Rob Lowe and a role in Junebug, the film that earned her her first Oscar nomination.
Le Gallo’s own career. didn’t get off the ground in the same way, though. Aside from a couple of appearances on TV shows, he did get a small role in Trouble With The Curve and uncredited part in The Master, two 2012 films starring Adams.
2. Adams & Le Gallo Were Together for 14 Years Before They Finally Married
Adams and Le Gallo have been a couple for over 15 years and they have taken major steps really slowly. They didn’t get engaged until 2008 and they didn’t marry until May 2015. People Magazine confirmed that the two married at a friend’s house in Santa Barbara, California.
In a 2009 interview with Allure, Adams explained that her career got in the way of them getting married.
“I’ve been really busy, and I feel like a horrible fiancée that I haven’t gotten swept up in the whole idea of a wedding. But I just haven’t,” she said, adding, “Once you have a great man in your life, it allows you—at least for me—to look at yourself and grow as an individual.”
Adams told Marie Claire that the two almost eloped in Las Vegas years ago, but they didn’t want to get married that way.
“We wanted to find a chaplain, go to the desert and get married at sunset,” Adams said. “But to be quite honest, we got too drunk. Then it was just not going to happen.”
3. Le Gallo Is an Artist Influenced by Surrealism & Expressionism
While the 42-year-old Le Gallo’s acting career hasn’t been as successful as his wife’s, he is a successful artist. “The nursery thing is like the wedding thing. What I’m actually looking forward to is when my child is old enough to tell me what they want in the room. We could do it together,” Adams said at the time. “I’m more interested in seeing who this child is, as a human being. That’s what’s exciting to me. I’m just so excited to see, if I have a little girl, does she want a princess room or is she into soccer?”
