Gigi Hadid is one of the most famous supermodels in the world, and her net worth certainly reflects that. With over 25 million Instagram followers and 3 million Twitter followers, the 21-year-old has not only strutted her stuff on some of the most exclusive runways in the world, but she’s co-designed collections with famous designers like Tommy Hilfiger.
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Hadid has an estimated net worth of $13 million. Read on to learn more about the supermodel, where her money comes from, and how she spends it.
1. She Earns an Estimated $300,000 per Instagram Post
According to Frank Spadafora, the founder of an analytics group that created an app to evaluate the social media power of celebrities, supermodels like Kendall Jenner, Cara Delevigne, and Gigi Hadid are currently valued between $125,000 and $300,000 for a single Instagram post. Karlie Kloss, Behati Prinsloo, and Miranda Kerr, meanwhile, make between $25,000 and $50,000 for uploading a product picture.
Micki Schneider, a senior booker at Wilhelmina Models, tells Hollywood Life, “The most valuable reason for a model to be on social media is definitely a combination of monetizing her image and using the platform to develop and build a digital brand for themselves. The more followers a model has, the more they can be appealing to certain clients. And we encourage the girls and are very mindful, as they create their own brands and become more mainstream, to be as authentic as possible.”
2. She’s the Daughter of A ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ Star
Hadid was born to former model Yolanda Hadid and real estate developer Mohamed Hadid. After her parents divorced, her mother remarried music producer David Foster. Yolanda was born in the Netherlands and worked for Ford Models for a number of years. After 15 years in the industry, she decided to settle down and raise a family. With her first husband, Mohamed, Yolanda has three children: Gigi, Bella and Anwar.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star then went on to marry composer and producer David Foster. The two married November 2011, and announced their intentions to divorce in December 2015.
In 2012, Yolanda was diagnosed with Lyme disease, which two of her children, Anwar and Bella, have contracted. In an October interview with ET Online, she revealed, “Bella is struggling. It’s hard to imagine that this beautiful bright light on the cover of magazines could struggle the way that she does.” Yolanda added on, “She’s always tired. She could sleep for 10 hours and wake up [and say], ‘I’m still tired.’ In the younger generation, it comes up like anxiety, severe exhaustion, joint pain, flu-like symptoms and they just keep struggling over it.”
3. Her Noho Apartment Is Valued at $4 Million
In July, Forbes published an article stating that Gigi had purchased a $4.675 million apartment for just shy of $4 million in Manhattan’s Noho district. The apartment is 2,085 square feet and features two and a half bathroom. It comes equipped with 10-foot 10-inch ceilings and mahogany-lined windows that stand 8 feet tall.
Forbes writes, “Perhaps the most special is the chef’s kitchen, reflective from almost every surface – shiny marble countertops, shimmering handmade Dutch tiles, and silver appliances by Subzero, Miele, Wolf, and Gaggenau.”
According to Harpers Bazaar, Hadid and longtime boyfriend, Zayn Malik, were spotted checking out the Bond street apartment together, though it isn’t certain if they are intending on moving in together.
4. She Started Her Modeling Career at Age 2
Hadid was born and raised in LA, and began her modeling career at a young age. She started working for Guess at age 2, and continues to model for the brand to this day.
In 2013, Gigi signed with IMG models, and in 2014, she was ranked in the Top 50 Models on models.com. Hadid moved to New York City in 2013, and in 2014, she made her debut at New York’s Fashion Week with Desigual. In 2014, she starred alongside Patrick Schwarzenegger in Tom Ford’s eyewear campaign.
5. She Was Named ‘Model of the Year’ in 2015
In 2015, Hadid was named the Model of the Year by the Daily Front. That same month, she was chosen as Maybelline’s brand ambassador. As her success and celebrity has continued to skyrocket, she has worked for designers like Marc Jacobs, Chanel, Michael Kors, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Max Mara. Last December, Hadid made another leap in the modeling world by walking in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
When it comes to magazines, the young model has appeared on covers of Vogue, Schön!, Numéro, W Magazine and Teen Vogue as well as WSJ Magazine, Elle Canada, Dazed and Harper’s Bazaar.
