Again, Carson Daly hosts the NBC New Year’s Eve special and he recently talked about the annual gig to NBC, stating that:
New Year’s Eve is always a thrilling night to broadcast live from Times Square. The excitement of the ball dropping, great music and millions of friends and families coming together to celebrate is incomparable. This will be my 14th year on NBC ringing in the new year in Times Square, and there’s no place I’d rather be.
Though he’s been hosting the event for so many years, he insists to The Observer that if he wasn’t “into it”, he wouldn’t do it anymore. He said the goal of the special is “trying to deliver the live experience of Times Square to people at home and put it in their living room. I do my best to encapsulate the excitement of the night and describe what I’m seeing to people who [can’t] be there.”
