WATCH: HBO’s Trailer for ‘Big Little Lies’ With Reese Witherspoon

HBO released a new trailer for Big Little Lies, a mini-series based on the book by Liane Moriarty of the same name. The network also confirmed that it will debut in February 2017.

The cast for the project is incredible, with Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman and Shailene Woodley as the headliners.

The story centers on three women: one who is married to a wealthy businessman and has twins; another who is divorced and not happy that her daughter prefers her ex-husband; and a third who is a single mother who does not fit in with the rest of the crowd. There is a murder that rocks their ‘perfect’ community.

In addition to the cast, Big Little Lies reunites Witherspoon with Wild director Jean-Marc Vallee, who also made Dallas Buyers Club. Prolific TV writer/producer David E. Kelley (Ally McBeal, Boston Legal) wrote the series.

Other members of the cast include Adam Scott, Laura Dern, James Tupper, Alexander Skarsgard, Sarah Baker, Larry Bates and Sarah Burns.

In a recent interview with TheFix.Nine, Moriarty admitted that seeing Kidman dressed up as the character Celeste made her tear up.

“I did feel surprisingly emotional to see Nicole Kidman dressed as my character Celeste,” she said. “They had her dressed exactly as I described her in the books, so I was surprised that I got a bit teary when I saw her. She looked like something from a fairy tale. She looked gorgeous.”

Moriarty has also defended the network’s decision to move the book’s setting from Sydney to California. She said that changing the setting helped distance herself from the project.

“It would have been nice if it had been set in Australia, but…it’s still just as exciting,” the author said. “I think perhaps if it had been set in Australia, I would have wanted to hold on too closely. I would have wanted everything to be exactly the same. So, in a way, it helped with my letting go process.”

Big Little Lies begins on HBO February 19 at 9 p.m. ET.
