Mary Tyler Moore’s co-star Ed Asner is alive-and-well. He is 87 years old. On January 25, Asner tweeted his condolences to Moore’s family following her tragic passing on January 25 at age 80.

Asner wrote on Twitter, “My heart goes out to you and your family. Know that I love you and believe in your strength.” He later added, “A great lady I loved and owe so much to has left us. I will miss her. I will never be able to repay her for the blessings that she gave me.”
In 2013, Asner suffered a health scare while performing his one-man show in Chicago. His son, Matt Asner, later told the New York Daily News that his old man had been treated for exhaustion and was fine.
A year earlier, Asner had told Fox News about his spiritual beliefs saying, “I still maintain the same position. I don’t know if there is a God, I’m agnostic – the cheap and easy way.”
As of 2016, Asner, who has been consistently political throughout his career, openly supported Bernie Sanders in the presidential election. He told Fox News, “I like Bernie. I am quite delighted that Bernie has made the progress he has and influenced the young people he has.”
