Tonight, in a hysterical acceptance speech, Lily Tomlin received a lifetime achievement award from the Screen Actors Guild at the 23rd annual SAG Awards. Previous winners of the award include Carol Burnett, Debbie Reynolds, Rita Moreno, and Dick Van Dyke.
Tomlin was presented the accolade from longtime friend and Nine to Five costar, Dolly Parton. The actress, 77, got her start performing stand-up in the ’60s. Her breakout role came in the sketch comedy series Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In.
Over the course of her illustrious career, Tomlin has won Grammy Awards, Tony Awards, a Kennedy Center Honors, and the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. Currently, she works on Netflix’s series Grace and Frankie.

Lily Tomlin was born in Detroit Michigan, and studied Biology at University before switching to a major in theater. After graduating, she performed stand-up in nightclubs in Detroit and New York City, and made her TV debut on The Merv Griffin Show in 1965.
Tomlin created many goofy and out-of-the-box characters in Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-In, like Ernestine, Edith Ann, Mrs. Judith Beasley, Susie the Sorority Girl, and more.
