‘Riverdale’: Meet the Cast of the New Archie Comics Series

K.J. Apa as Archie Andrews

The CW has another comic book series-based show debuting in Thursday, January 26 at 9 p.m. ET. Just like the others, it's executive produced by Greg Berlanti. But unlike Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl and DC's Legends of Tomorrow, Riverdale is based on Archie Comics. It's a dark twist on the stories involving America's Favorite Teenager, where Archie Andrews and his friends aren't the do-gooders we all know.

In Riverdale, the seemingly perfect, All-American town is shaken by the murder of high school student Jason Blossom during the summer. As school starts, the murder is still not solved and there are plenty of questions. Although this is mystery hovers over the characters, they are still similar to the ones in the comics. Betty and Veronica are still competing for Archie's heart and Jughead is still Archie's best friend.

K.J. Apa stars as Archie Andrews. He's a relatively unknown star, but he appeared in Shortland Street and The Cul De Sac. He also stars in A Dog's Purpose, which hits theaters this weekend. (Photo: Dean Buscher/The CW)
