Supergirl Finally Returns!
After nearly two months out of action, Supergirl finally returned and the new episode was a big one. "Supergirl Lives" was directed by Kevin Smith, the filmmaker behind Clerks and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, and the star of AMC's Comic Book Men. The title is also important for Smith, since it refers to Superman Lives, the Superman movie Smith wrote a script for that Tim Burton was supposed to direct in the mid-1990s, but never happened.
In "Supergirl Lives," the villain Roulette (Dichen Lachman) returned after the police had to let her go in "Survivors." While trying to find a missing girl named Lizzy (played by Smith's daughter Harley Quinn Smith), Kara (Melissa Benoist) and Mon-El (Chris Wood) crossed paths with Roulette and were transported through a door to a planet called Slaver's Moon. Once there, they both lose their powers, since it has a red Sun.
"Supergirl Lives" felt like a lost Star Trek episode and was plenty of fun. Smith went heavy on action, but also helped push the two relationships central to the show forward. Alex and Maggie's relationship grew stronger and Mon-El has decided to work with Kara to save lives.
