Metallica Band Members & Lead Singer
Metal band Metallica is one of the set performers for the 2017 Grammy Awards and they are collaborating with superstar Lady Gaga for their performance. Currently, they are gearing up for their most recent tour, which is reportedly going to be announced on Monday, according to BlabberMouth. They are promoting their latest album "Hardwired ... To Self-Destruct" on the tour and will also be performing a song from the album at the Grammys to give fans a taste of their most recent work. This is the first album to come out since their 2008 album "Death Magnetic". Bassist Robert Trujillo talked to The Pulse Of Radio about their upcoming North American tour and said that: We haven't spent enough time in the States in recent years and it's been a while, so rather than going and hanging out in Europe and spending a lot of time there before we come to the States, we're actually hitting the States first. And that's something that I'm really excited about, because it's been a while. It seems like people are hungry for METALLICA again and they've been waiting a long time. As for what to expect from the guys at the Grammy Awards, Ultimate Guitar reports that the band will be performing their song "Moth Into Flame."
The band was formed in 1981 and, over the years, some of the players have changed. Past members of the band include Ron McGovney, Dave Mustaine, Cliff Burton and Jason Newsted. McGovney ended up leaving Metallica and went on to be a part of the band Phantasm, before retiring. Mustaine was the original lead guitarist in Metallica and also is known as the lead singer of the band Megadeth. Cliff Burton died in September 1986 when the band's tour bus crashed and he was thrown from the vehicle, only for the bus to land on top of him. It was truly a tragedy and occurred in Sweden, according to Metal Insider. And, when it comes to Jason Newsted, he left the band in 2001 and he went on to play in Voivod, as well as his self-titled band Newsted. Now that we've gotten the rundown on the band's upcoming Grammys performance and their past band members, let's check out the four remaining band members, along with their backgrounds, in our Metallica gallery.
