Oscars 2017 Host Jimmy Kimmel: Who Is Hosting the Awards This Year

Oscars Host Jimmy Kimmel

It's the 2017 Oscars, and Jimmy Kimmel will be hosting the event. In true Kimmel fashion, the TV personality has been making jokes about how he got the gig. During his show last week, he said, "The producers and the Academy went through a long list of names -- and in the end, they decided that -- since I am already right across the street from where they do the show -- I was the closest person to host. I guess I have to get a tux now. Or maybe I'll wear jean shorts?" What's even more exciting is that Kimmel just announced that he and his wife, Molly McNearney, are expecting their second child. CNN reports him as saying, "There's a lot of exciting stuff going on. Congratulations to me. I'm hosting the Oscars and I had sex. Two things as a teenage boy I never thought would be possible." Coverage for the 89th Academy Awards will begin Sunday at 7pm ET, with the ceremony starting at 8:30 pm ET. The celebration will air on ABC (red carpet on E!) and marks Kimmel's first hosting the event. Click through our gallery to learn more about the Oscars and Kimmel as host. (Getty)
